Chapter 1: Waking up
The main character of this story, whose name seemed not to even be
known at this point, awakened groggily to the sounds of traffic, and
to the smells of rotting garbage.
The bright mid-morning sun streamed down on the rough pavement
of what appeared to be a city alleyway, into which a very confused
and nauseated someone had stumbled, or been tossed.
A hangover and a memory blackout both hinted that there must have
been plenty of alcohol consumed the night before. But waking up in an
alleyway? That just seemed completely out of character.
Or did it? Just what kind of a character was this, anyway?
